About
Hi, I am Mansoor.
I am a Site Reliability Engineer by profession, currently @Netflix. I spend my days building & maintaining software systems at scale, focusing on reliability and scalability
By night I go in the opposite direction to homelab chaos. I love tinkering with self-hosted services, occasionally breaking them and sometimes fixing them.
I sometimes write on my blog esc.sh. By sometimes, I mean once in a blue moon.

AI Usage
I do not and will never use LLMs to generate blog posts. This is a place for me to share my own words and experience. I do however use LLMs such as Gemini and Claude for my own learning and researching. Sometimes I use them as a brainstorming partner as well as for code generation for proof concept projects I don't plan on deploy to production

- Minimal Self-hosted analytics: I do run a self-hosted Plausible analytics server to get some basic metrics like number of visitors, top URLs etc. But I do not use that data for anything else.

I have a YouTube playlist covering the basics of DevOps (Devops From Scratch) It’s about 5 years old now, and the production quality on the first few videos is... "early career," but the concepts hold up and I think they are still pretty useful.
This site
This site is running Ghost CMS on a VPS. I initially ran it on my own home lab, but I don't trust myself with keeping that alive (ask my Plex users), so I decided to move it to the cloud as all the cool kids these days.
